Tools, Not Toys #2: Sin 420 CBD
About “Tools, Not Toys”
If you’ve checked out our website, you may have come across a phrase we use: TOOLS, NOT TOYS—and we take this VERY seriously. The fitness, wellness, and nutrition landscape is flooded with noise and nonsense. The signal-to-noise ratio? Easily 99% noise.
In a world where everyone’s looking for shortcuts, the biohacking industry has exploded with promises of effortless optimization—pills, gadgets, and secret formulas that supposedly unlock peak performance with minimal effort. But if these “hacks” actually worked, why does Dave Asprey keep filling up my inbox every week with the latest secret nano-technology African berry and triple-osmotic gravity-reduced water that only 1% of billionaire CEOs know about? And for the low, low price of… well, you get the idea.
If the hacks from 10 years ago, 5 years ago, or even 3 months ago really worked, shouldn’t we all be living in our fully “optimized” health by now? The truth is, biohackers are salesmen, not scientists. Real, lasting health doesn’t come from a magic pill or $5,000 vibrating plate gizmos—it comes from hard, disciplined, and consistent work.
However, there are legitimate tools—not toys—that can help translate the work we put in into the outcomes we’re aiming for, more efficiently. Each of our newsletters will highlight a tool that is evidence-based and personally used by us.
As always, remember: every individual is different. Use your own assessments and critical thinking before deciding to purchase any of the products we recommend.
Tool of the Month: Sin 420 CBD
About two months ago, I made the difficult decision to significantly reduce my alcohol intake. Let me rephrase: the decision to stop drinking was easy, the application of it was extremely hard. During Covid, I had fallen into the habit of having a drink or two every evening to wind down and continued to do so even after lockdown was a distant memory. Over the last year in therapy, being honest with myself, I knew I was now using alcohol not as an occasional social celebration but as a nightly crutch to deal with anxiety.
I wanted to stop drinking but, like a lot of folks, it’s really hard for me to shut my mind off at the end of the day trying to manage the various roles, responsibilities, hopes, dreams, and what-are-we-having-for-dinner conversations going on in my head simultaneously.
In my attempts to stop drinking, I tried several strains of THC gummies, but unfortunately, I could not find any dose or strain that did not increase my anxiety. I also tried various CBD drinks, lotions, and shots but found no effect whatsoever. I happened into a dispensary near my office and after explaining my situation, they turned me onto this brand: Sin 420 CBD. I used it and found a relaxing effect instantly and have since used it daily in place of alcohol when I come home.
Sin 420 CBD is a small business owned by Winde Betran, a registered nurse with a background in pain management, head and neck cancer care, and integrative medicine. While Winde initially started with small batches made by hand, she has since upgraded to an FDA-approved and GMP-certified processing manufacturer. Although the cost of the product is higher than some other brands on the market, I sincerely find the quality to be outstanding, and frankly it’s the only CBD I’ve ever used that I feel effects from.
Winde has generously provided a referral code “GV68K71VN2ZZ” that will allow readers of this blog to receive a discount for any purchases made. I personally use the Broad Spectrum Sleep Tincture but I would encourage anyone interested to go to her website and check out her entire line of tinctures, gummies, and creams: www.sin420cbd.com
